    Trimming a Desert Rose

    Thread Status:

Does anyone have any pointers about when and how to do this? This summer, my desert rose has grown and flowered prolifically... and I need to cut it back so that things start branching etc.

    Help!

    Re: Trimming a Desert Rose

I tried doing some research on this, as I have similar questions about my desert rose! Here's some of the things I've read:

    • Keep moist and well fed during the growing season, and allow drying well between watering when dormant.
    • The sap of this plant is very poisonous, so be careful and wash hands and tools well after handling!!!
    • Trim longer stems after dormant season.
    • When repotting, raise caudex to expose best characteristics.

    Hope that helps!
